FOOD
Food is important as this where living things get their chemical building blocks. These building blocks are needed to grow and reproduce. |
Food is a source of energy. According to the Cellular Respiration Power Point, "Food serves as a source of… …raw materials for the cells of the body." This means that this is the center of composition for the building blocks, used by cell.

Chemical Energy and ATP
ATP is a chemical compound which is used by the cell to store and release energy.
ADP~Adenoisne Diphosphate
ATP~Adenosine Triphosphate
ATP~Adenosine Triphosphate
There is a difference between the two. ATP has more phosphate group which gives it much more energy compared to ADP. An example used by the Cellular Respiration PowerPoint is that ADP is energy poor like a dead battery, where as ATP is energy rich like a charged battery.

An ATP consists of the following:
The only difference between ADP and ATP is that the ATP has one more phosphate group than the ADP giving it all that energy.
When energy is available, it is stored in ADP as a phosphate group by turning it to an ATP.
When energy is needed, energy is released from one phosphate group of ATP
and it turns to an ADP.
